Thankfully, my family hasn’t experienced breast cancer, specifically, but we most definitely have been impacted by cancer. You’re never quite the same. Through the very personal experiences of losing my mother suddenly to lung cancer, my grandfather to pancreatic cancer and witnessing the struggle my survivor sister has had with ovarian cancer, my empathy for anyone touched by cancer has swelled. When I was invited to participate in this year’s Real Men Wear Pink campaign, the reality of cancer struck me again. This time, it was looking in the eyes of my wife and daughters and dreaming ahead to the potential of having granddaughters and wondering, would they be touched by cancer? I count it a privilege to join forces with others in my community to help fund research that will move us closer to a cure and to a “world free from the pain and suffering of breast cancer.”

Real Men Wear Pink

Breast cancer does not just affect women. Not only are more than 2,600 men in the US diagnosed every year, but so are more than 240,000 of their daughters, wives, mothers, sisters and friends.
